This week we returned from vacation in Mexico. Returning from vacation is always a little crummy, but this time when we pulled up outside our house, a pretty blue box was waiting for me on the front step.
Back in November, I had ordered a subscription box as a birthday treat to myself. I had been hearing all about the FabFitFun box on Pinterest and Instagram. So you could say the ads sucked me in, but I am a pretty frugal online shopper. This was a splurge for me.
The FabFitFun box is a seasonal subscription box, meaning they do a box four times a year at the beginning of each season. I did not realize I had ordered the winter box right when they went on sale, so I had to wait until December for it to arrive. When FabFitFun finally emailed me to notify my box had shipped, I was over the moon with delight.
The box is filled with *full-sized* “fab” beauty, fashion, fitness and home products. You have the option to do add-ons also, where you can purchase stunning items for quite the steal, often half the price or less. Of course, you pay the extra price for those items, so I have yet to try this feature. The total value of the box will be hundreds of dollars, but you only pay $49.99 for your box. Each box will give you details on the items, including total value of the items.
For the first time around, you can easily find a celebrity raving about the FabFitFun box and receive a promo code. If you want to take a shortcut, try using LC as a promo code in checkout— shout out to my girl, Lauren Conrad. This will give you $10 off, as long as that code is still in use. All promo codes as far as I am aware will only give you the $10 off for the first time.
So I paid $39.99 for my first winter box. I think this is a fair price for the box and $49.99 is pushing it for me. But really, I’m just a cheapskate. The products are high quality and a portion of the proceeds goes to charity, so truly It’s worth it. Here’s an excerpt on charitable efforts from the spring Box.
Currently, our charitable efforts are focused on specific charity partners each season. This Spring season, we are focused on giving back to More Than Me, an organization whose mission is to use education as a catalyst for change for every woman and girl in Liberia.

The only thing I cannot determine is what portion of the proceeds goes to charity. This information is not revealed anywhere on the site or in the magazine sent with each box, which is disappointing.
Alright, let’s get to the good stuff. I am going to be revealing my spring box in a moment, but here is a quick peak at my winter box from my Instagram post.
The winter box exceeded my expectation, and it was truly fab. I absolutely loved the soy candle and planner. The mascara was bomb and the tangerine lotion… Delicious. By the time March came around, I was so busy at work and planning for vacation that I had forgotten I subscribed and my new box was on it’s way.
As soon as we had unloaded all of the vacation baggage from the car, I spiritedly skipped back outside to grab my box and bring it inside to unveil on my living room floor. Here it is in all it’s charm and glamor.
The first thing you will see when you open the tissue inside the box is the FabFitFun magazine. It’s pretty brief, usually only about ten pages in length.
There’s always a cute editor’s note and features on the box artist and charity. Then you will find a detailed breakdown of the items in the box. Most items will vary in color or style. If you choose to be a Select FabFitFun member, meaning you pay up front the subscription cost for an entire year, you can choose which variety of each item you will receive. I find it kind of fun to be surprised.
As you can see above, the total retail value of the box was $369-$374 (dependent on the the items you receive). A lot of the magazine is pretty heavy advertising, but there’s usually one or two good features, such as the “How Successful Entrepreneurs Start Their Day” piece in this spring magazine.
Now let me show you each of the items closer up. I received nine items in my box.
1) LUV AJ Diamond Kite Crawler Earring Set Value: $85
You either received this item or a cage bracelet. I am not a huge bracelet girl, so I am glad I got these earrings. They are super fresh from the normal type of earrings I would wear. The magazine states they are 14K rose gold, and you might not be able to tell from the picture but they are sparkly :). I admit I struggled putting the long crawler type earring on, but it’s probably because I am a newbie with this trend. Once it was on, real edgy, real cute.
2) BRIOGEO Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray Value: $20
Talk about perfect timing. I have gotten into this bad funk when after a long day of work and rigorous workout at the gym, I get so lazy at night. So lazy that I shower and then leave my hair untouched by a comb or even brush at night. I let it air dry in all of it’s ratty glory. It looks kind of cool, in my own sort of tell-yourself-it-looks-good kind of way. I used to buy the It’s a 10 Miracle leave-in spray, but holy expensive. I am so happy this arrived in the box, as I desperately need it. And for the size of the bottle and price, it might be something that I actually purchase on my own.
3) DEBORAH LIPPMANN Nail Polish Set in Shape of My Heart/Like A Virgin Value $19
I am not really into nail polish. I suck at painting nails and I’m ashamed to admit that I’m a part of the nail-biter club. For Mexico I had treated myself to a pedicure which is still clinging to my toes, but I do not ever paint my fingernails so as to not draw attention to that insecurity. Once my pedicure wears away, I will have to remember to give this nail polish set a try, because the colors are very pretty and something I would pick out myself.
4) MILLY Zip Pouch Value $45
I admit I had to Google what “haute” means. I’ve seen the word plenty of times, but never really knew what it meant. If I’m going to be carrying a bag around, I figure I better know what it states. Apparently it means fashionably elegant and is actually pronounced similarly to how you would pronounce the word “oat”. Clearly I am an oat mess… Just notice the cat hair clinging to my shirt. I am not sure exactly what I will use this for, but perhaps a makeup or travel bag. It’s cute and bonus, waterproof.
5) DR. BRANDT Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator Value $79
I guess I’m not sure if this is something I should be using…. Age Defying Exfoliator for a 24 year old? Is this something I should be concerned with? Am I in that middle’s 20 phase and just pin-brained about the reality of my age? Seriously accepting advise, because this is not something in my current routine and not something I plan to add. This might be a great re-gift option.
6) KARUNA Hydrating + Face Mask Value $28
Masks are all the rage right now. This set comes with four and claims to deep condition the skin, which sounds really freaking nice. I could definitely go for a relaxation
power hour 10-20 minutes that it calls for. I’ve seen several times on the internet where significant others are trying masks with each other, so maybe I can convince Drew to give this one a try with me 🙂
7) GYPSY Roundie Value $50
Okay this one is really fun and our kitties love it. I desperately wish my box had arrived before vacation because this would have been a perfect throw for the beach. I guess I will just have to go on a picnic now that the weather is warming up. So, so pretty. I creeped through the depths of instagram and the other styles are also gorgeous.
8) REALHER Lip Kit in Deep Red Value $48
I adore red lipstick. I wish more people wore red, because it is a really attractive and confident color. I’ve never actually owned a lip kit, because I’m very uneducated when it comes to makeup. My best friend from college taught me a simple makeup routine that I use to this day— thank you, Karissa! I don’t even know how to curl my hair ya’ll. Thank goodness for naturally curly hair and also this red poppin lipstick to pull an outfit together. I plan to wear this on my next weekend outing. My favorite part: the girl power message.
9) NATURE’S BOUNTY Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies Value $Unknown
I am not sure why, but there is no mention of these gummies being included in the box. It was not included on the “What’s in the Box” feature in the magazine. I checked out Instagram, and everyone else seemed to receive these too. Hey, bonus item! I’m alright with that. They are very tasty just like strawberry gummy candies. I am very ignorant with vitamins. I have no clue what I should be taking, so this is a good place to start. Definitely recommend.
Ultimately, I think this box is well worth the cost. I hate spending money, but this is my favorite treat every few months, and who does not love receiving packages in the mail? With that $10 discount, I definitely recommend trying at least one box. My only complaint is I don’t think there is enough “fit” in the box. I have received some health & wellness products for skin, but nothing truly for getting physically fit with exercise. This would be my one suggestion for the FabFitFun team.
Here’s a direct link to get your first box. It should automatically discount you $10.
Full disclosure: If you order this way, I get a free $15 credit for add-on’s for my next box. I didn’t know this was even a thing when I started out writing this review. So if you don’t order it through that link, no hard feelings, but I would still appreciate it if you do:)
Honestly, the real reason I buy the box? A fun night for my kitties who love to play around in the boxes.
Have you tried the FabFitFun box already? What do you think, is it worth the cost? Have you tried any other subscription boxes?
