Her Mad Hope is an effort to think positively, think globally, and think critically. Simply put, it is an initiative to keep this mad hope of mine alive, while also encouraging others to find and define their own mad hope. To me “mad hope” is always having faith- in yourself, in the universe. In your darkest hours, when you are questioning everything you know, if you can find even just a sliver of hope…
That, my faithful followers, is MAD hope.
The title of this blog was inspired by the great Matt Nathanson’s album, “Some Mad Hope”. These three words have been my mantra since I was about 16, and they are my spirit in life.
Hello there, my name is Cody (or Toad, if you know me like that),
and I am the creative mind behind Her Mad Hope. I am so happy you’re here!
I created this blog, when I realized it was my hope, my mad, mad hope, that had helped me overcome all of the adversities in my life. I realized that I have hope, always. Like all people, I get low at times; I get real low. I have had moments where I felt like I had lost purpose and was losing hope. Through all of my lows in life, never have I lost it all. And by “it”, I don’t mean my marbles; I mean hope.
I have always been able to find hope in a kind gesture, an act of love, a positive sign; sometimes even through another person’s faith or simply the overwhelming beauty of our world- from a sprouting blade of grass beneath my toes to the amount of knowledge one could try to cram into their brain in a lifetime to the mysterious burning stars above. I can find hope always, and so can you.
I’m 22, a Wisconsin native who jumped the river to Iowa, and a proud UW-La Crosse alumna.
I am a feminist, an optimist, an adventure-seeker and a firework.
I love ridiculous hashtags, grass-laying, Phoebe Buffay, and all things chocolate.
I aspire to be a book worm, world traveler, brilliant writer, and forever flower child.
